Patient Information

Our clients come from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds and our services are for everyone

Many clients are often nervous about coming to their first pelvic health appointment and we completely understand. This page is designed to answer a few common questions and hopefully make you feel a little more comfortable and prepared to meet us!

What can I expect?

  • What is pelvic health physiotherapy?

Unlike regular physiotherapists, our staff have completed additional specialty training to treat pelvic health conditions for women, men, children and LGBTQI  who may be experiencing issues such as bladder and bowel control, constipation, prolapse, pelvic pain, hip, coccyx, pain during pregnancy, post natal recovery as well as gynaecological and prostatectomy rehabilitation. Your pelvic health physio will assess your pelvic floor muscles (muscles that support your pelvic organs like your bladder, bowel and for females, your uterus) to assess your condition and provide a treatment plan.

  • Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

A referral is not required to see any of our physiotherapists. We can certainly accept any referrals from GPs and specialists that you may have received.

  • What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring to your appointment any doctors or specialist referrals, along with any medical history and results you have that may be relevant to your condition.

  • What happens during my first physiotherapy appointment?

Your first appointment will last about an hour. Your physio will discuss your medical history, do a thorough pelvic health assessment and provide information and an individual treatment/exercise program to help you achieve your pelvic health goals. This may include an internal examination, with your consent and depending on your circumstances and condition.

  • How many sessions will I need?

Your physiotherapist will be able to indicate how many appointments you may need once they have assessed your condition. They will then provide you with a treatment plan to improve your pelvic health and achieve your goals.

  • Can I have another person with me during my appointment?

You are welcome to bring your baby, child or family member to an appointment.

  • What do I wear for my appointment?

We suggest you wear clothing you feel most comfortable in, there are no specific requirements.

  • Can I still attend my appointment if I have my period?

Our physiotherapists can treat you whilst you have your period, as long as you feel comfortable with this.

  • Do you only treat pre/postnatal clients?

Our team of physios are experienced in treating a wide range of pelvic health concerns, including bladder, bowel, pelvic pain (PCOS, Endometriosis) hip, coccyx, prostatectomy rehabilitation and more, including complex conditions.
