Men's bladder health

We understand these problems are often embarrassing and unpredictable but with the right advice and treatment many men will see significant improvement.

What is good bladder health?

What is normal bladder function?

Did you know that going to the toilet between 4-7 times a day is normal and once over-night over 60 years old? If you drink 6-8 glasses of fluid each day that’s perfectly normal. A healthy bladder needs to be nurtured by good daily habits, like drinking plenty of fluids and including fibre in your diet. Keeping your pelvic floor muscles strong assists with good bladder control, as does regular exercise. Normal bladder function is having control over when and where you will pass urine.

Signs of bladder problems?

  • Do you leak a wee when you cough or sneeze? (stress incontinence)
  • Do you find yourself dribbling after you have finished emptying your bladder?
  • Do you need to suddenly rush to the toilet with little to no warning? (urinary incontinence)
  • Are you only producing a slow stream of wee?
  • Are you anxious to leave the house worrying you won’t be able to find a toilet in time?
  • Have you had prostate surgery?
